One of the best government job opportunities in India for engineers and postgraduate scientists is BARC OCES/DGFS.
First, let’s clarify the BARC OCES/DGFS Program.
“Orientation Course for Engineering Graduates and Science Postgraduates” is what OCES stands for.
- Before being appointed permanently to different departments within the Department of Atomic Energy, candidates who have completed an orientation course in science and engineering are eligible to apply.
- Mumbai, Kalpakkam, Indore, Hyderabad, and other five BARC Training Schools will host this Orientation Course, or OCES.
- The candidates who are chosen for training (OCES) shall be referred to as “Trainee Scientific Officers (TSO)”
- TSOs will be appointed as Scientific Officers in any of the DAE Units, which include BARC, IGCAR, RRCAT, VECC, HWB, NFC, BRIT, NPCIL, BHAVINI, UCIL, AMD, and DCSEM, following their successful completion of OCES in BARC Training Schools.
- The Government of India’s “Group A Gazetted Officer” post is held by Scientific Officers in DAE Units.
- However, as NPCIL, UCIL, and BHAVINI are all PSUs and appointments in PSUs are subject to the corporation’s service rules, the position will not be a Gazetted Officer position in these cases.
DGFS Stands for “DAE Graduate Fellowship Scheme for Engineering Graduates and Physics Postgraduates”
- For engineering graduates and post-graduates in physics seeking to complete an M.Tech or M.Chem engineering degree, there is a two-year fellowship program.
- While they pursue an M.Tech or M.Chem. engineering degree, they have also secured an appointment with the Department of Atomic Energy.
- After earning an M. Tech. or M. Chem. Engg. DGFS Fellows are employed by DAE as Group A Gazetted Scientific Officers.
- DGFS Fellows will be assigned to either IGCAR Kalpakkam or BARC Mumbai.
